Blessed are those who lived here in the precincts of Ramakrishna Math and Mission Centres in India. A devoted couple Dr.M.V.Narayanaswamy and Smt.Akhila Narayanaswamy, inspired by the mission of Vedanta and blessed by senior monks of Sri Ramakrishna order, initiated a sanga, Sri Sarada Devi Bhajan Mandali at Golden Rock, Trichy, in 1966. With the blessings of Sadhus and the able support of ardent devotees, this blossomed into Sri Ramakrishna Sarada Samithi in 1976. A Shrine for the Holy Trinity in 1978 and regular worship of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna, Sadhu seva, Sathsang, Bhajans and discourses filled the hearts of hundreds of devotees with happiness and lifted them spiritually.

Inspired by the then President of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore, Chennai, Most Revered Srimat Swami Smarananandaji and later by his successor Most Revered Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji, an off shoot of this great sanga had its birth, exclusively to cater to the educational needs of rural poor and needy, aiming to offer man making education. Thus was born this trust – “Sri Ramakrishna Sarada Educational Trust” - in 1996 with the noble aim of education and service. The Trust had an ambitious start in acquiring land of 1.91 acres for a school at Ayyampatti, 4 km from Trichy Airport. The Trust has seized this opportunity to fulfill the ambition of serving the HOLY TRIO.

Bhoomi pooja : 23.4.1997.

Semi permanent hall was constructed in 1998 at the cost of Rs.4 lakhs. Mr.Vijai Subramaniam of U.S.A donated the entire cost of the building in the name of his father-in-law, Prof.S.V.Vaidyanath.

Inauguration of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya: 14th June, 1998 by Revered Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji in the presence of Sri.V.Murthy, IAS, Collector, Trichy and Smt.Punithavalli, Mayor, Trichy Corporation.

Permanent building with 3 class rooms was inaugurated on 15th August 1999 by Revered Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, President, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai in the presence of Srimat Swami Raghaveshanandaji Maharaj, Srimat Swami Kumaranandaji Majharaj and Srimat Swami Veetabhayanandaji Maharaj.

Montessori wing of our school commenced on 11th May 2005 in the Divine presence of Revered Srimat Swami Sukhatmanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Salem Ashrama

In pursuit of education

Language teaching – Rotary Sakthi Helps our children by taking spoken English class every week.

Stress on active intelligence oriented teaching, culture and patriotism.

Lesser burden of books and notebooks to the children as they are taught by play way method.

Computer exposure to all children with the help of smart class. This methodology increases the retention power of children because of the audio visual programme.

Children are encouraged to take part in District, State and National Level competitions and are coming up with flying colours.

Chanting of Vedic hymns, Sanskrit slokas and Tamil devotional songs form part of our prayers.

Patriotism instilled by taking the National pledge.

Co-curricular learning of classical music (Vocal & Instrumental), and Yoga are taught at our shrine at Golden Rock.

Exhibitions are conducted periodically to inculcate Team work, Leadership qualities and Sharing amoung children.

Narayana Seva

to every Sunday on an average 60 poor children are fed.

Distribution of note books and Text Books and clothes to about 300 children per year.

Flood relief work entrusted to the Trust by Sri Ramakrishna Math was done during November 1998. Utensils, food and clothes were distributed under the supervision of Revered Srimat Swami Veerabhadrananda Maharaj of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Madurai.

Training and Special Care for Handicapped Children

To develop the physical capability of handicapped children, the school provides resources like jungle gym, line walk, tunnel, fiber slides and see-saws. There is a dedicated helper who is responsible for taking care of the children while they are engaged in these activities. Special care is also provided by some of the concerned teachers in the classroom. This year the school has held Eye Screening Camps, Dental Camps, Counseling classes, and a Camp for identifying dyslexia affected students. Specially trained personnel are visiting the school periodically, and guidance is also being provided by Doctors who have specialized in these areas.

There are 4 students that are currently enrolled that are deemed handicapped (3 polio stricken, and one with stunted growth in the right hand).

Technology Awareness Program

We are providing Audio Visual Programme for all the children with the help of Mexus Education, Mumbai. They deliver the concepts and contents through appropriate interactive technology with the guidance of educators, learners, academicians and administrators.

Sunday Mid-day Meal Program

Every Sunday, a nutritious, vegetarian, meal including rice, lentils, vegetables, yogurt, bread and milk is provided at the school premises to children of poor families in and around the area. These children get their daily mid-day meals from the respective Government schools that they attend during the week. But, unfortunately, the government does not provide this meal on Sundays. Most of the children who come to the Sunday Mid-day Meal Program are from families of low income farm labourers, including some poor children from SRKVMS as well. But for this meal, most of these children would go hungry. Sensing a need, this program was started in the 1998 and feeds close to 60 children every Sunday.
